Diperkenalkan oleh Benjamin Graham. Konsep Margin of Safety (MoS) adalah menitikberatkan pada selisih dari harga saham dengan harga wajarnya (intrinsik). Konsep Margin of Safety (MoS) ini sangat dibutuhkan oleh para investor dan perusahaan, terutama investor jangka panjang.

Analogi sederhanya seperti ini, misalnya kita bisnis jual beli susu, harga wajar seliter susu adalah Rp 10.000. Anggap semua susu kualitasnya sudah teriuji dan baik. Suatu hari ada pemasok dari peternakan baru datang dan menawarkan pada kita seliter susu harganya Rp 9500, maka Rp 500 itulah batas akan keamanan kita. Kita yakin bila membeli darinya maka kita masih aman. Seandainya kita bisa menawar lebih murah lagi, maka batas akan keamanan kita akan jauh lebih baik lagi. Itulah analogi sederhana batas akan keamanan.

Dengan mengetahui margin of safety akan diperoleh manfaat bagi kemajuan perusahaan untuk mengetahui batas keamanan dari kondisi penjualannya dan juga dapat diketahui berapa yang harus diproduksi agar penjualan mendekati titik break even point.
